Born in Morton, Washington, Alaskan Artist Gene Amondson spent his early years in a logging camp near Mount Rainier with summers spent in Alaskan logging camps and villages which provided inspiration for his oil paintings of Alaskan landscapes.

Amondson began oil painting while in college in Oregon and continued to study and teach art while earning his Master's degree in Kentucky.

Gene's Oil paintings Amondson studied under Sergei Bongart and Fred Oldfield which inspired his use of rich colors in his oil paintings.

Amondson's original oil paintings can be seen throughout Alaska and the Northwest, but his biggest collections as an Alaskan artist can be viewed at The New Horizon's Gallery, in Fairbanks Alaska, the Gallery of the North in Juneau, Alaska and the Chilkat Trader on Vashon Island, WA. See the Landscape links below to view his paintings.

Rolf Lindberg, Sweden's foremost "Troll Artist," gave Gene an outlet for his sense of humor in Gene's whimsical watercolors and also his Life Sized Wood Carvings
